From humble beginnings in 1996, Des co-founded, Batphone Australia who now supply Plant of Health® eco-friendly fertilisers, and products to three continents.
Des sold the business in 2021 to launch Soil Health Solutions to focus primarily on providing soil nutrition diagnostics, training and real solutions to the growers wanting to practice regenerative growing....and reduce their costs as well as exposure to harsh chemicals.

Biography:
With a passion for health Des was introduced to sustainable growing approximately twenty five years ago and holds a certificate in Sustainable agriculture, Microscope intensive (SFW) Methodology compost & composting (SFW).
He has been promoting and educating the topic of regenerative soil nutrition ever since and provides real solutions and action strategies for many types of growers. Des frequently lectures, consults and supplies eco-friendly advice in Australia, Japan and India. Des works with industry leaders wanting solutions for long-term growing, including schools, councils, landscapers, arbourists, sporting organisations, AFL, organic farmers & production nurseries.
Des frequently trains nursery staff, growers, curators & landscapers on all aspects of regenerative soil nutrition, has lectured at TAFE colleges and various industry events as well as writing articles & papers on aspects related to the topic.
As a strong advocate for work life balance, Des loves footy and music and currently holds a president roll at Sandgate Hawks AFC as well as plays in a band. Life is about having fun while you work!
Des also won an Under 16s AFL premiership in 1977.
